double digit countdown

woah! another busy past few days but none the less gave me some stuff to blog about.
we visited "salvation mountain" which is located in niland socal east of the salton sea (another can of warms - might blog about it later). this beautiful master piece was created by Leonard Knight, who recently passed in february 2014, may his soul rest in peace. the creation of this beautiful, adobe clay mountain is nothing short of amazing. if ever in socal it's a neat place to visit.

"salvation mountain is Leonard's tribute to God and his gift to the world with its simple yet powerful message: 'God Is Love.'"

on our way back from one of his far-away jobs

we sent out our invites!!
we hit the double digits!!!

yesterday we ran the oc half marathon: my 3rd half and his 6th. quite the experience - j is so amazing he stayed with me the entire race even though he could've clearly just left me behind and possibly set a PR for himself, since i wasn't being the nicest after mile 7- he's amazing and so selfless. we had originally signed up for the full to kick us both back into fit gear, however, that still only gave us about 3 months of training -i've never ran a full (he has) but i know that's not enough time to train for a full. ha so we decided to just do the half after a month of signing up...we still didn't train. at least not as much as we should've. even though i think it's amazing that our bodies can run 13.1 miles (well 13.24 to be exact) without training but it's really not smart at all.

after mile 6 or 7 i remember telling j "i'm struggling" not sure if it was the fact that we were running ahead of our "goal" pace for the first 6 miles, lack of training, or the heat; i'll blame all three. j was so supportive and encouraging the entire race it was really amazing to have him run by my side and it pushed me to run faster but at the same time i just wasn't happy about how i was feeling halfway through. at about mile 10 -j says to me "can you speed it up a bit?" i looked at him -with i'm sure a look of "go to hell" and simply shook my head "no" 5 minutes go by and we see a man laying on the side of the road, cpr was being performed on him and he wasn't responding. what a terrible site to see while running and all i could do was pray for the man. i truly hope & pray he is recovering at home now. j said the last mile we have to really speed it up in order to run it under 2hrs. there were 7 min left on my watch til we hit the 2hr mark and we had just started running mile 12 -lets just say i picked it up a bit finishing 13.24 miles in 2 hrs 4 mins. - tech 2 hrs 2 min (the course markers were off..how does that happen?)

i thought the course was legit - but the lack of training and the heat got the best of me. no PR for either one of us. but it was a good experience to run with him, he usually smokes me, he's so good! :) we will definitely train for the next one, maybe even train for a marathon. that's on my bucket list before i'm 30.

i will quote some of the funniest comments j made which at the time i didn't think were funny but looking back if i wasn't so focused on trying to keep every bit of energy inside of me i would've stopped & laughed so hard at every single one of these:
"alright we are at 7000 steps (looking at his step counter)"
"babe this is the last half you'll do until i get you pregnant!"
"alright babe, only 33 min left to go"
"this is perfect timing for a beer or coffee" at like mile 10 lol
"do you think you can speed it up a bit?"
"alright last mile we have to really speed it up"
"follow to the left of me and i'll get you to the finish line under 2"
"i love you babe"
"good job babe"
"you are doing so good baby"
"farts,farts,farts"

haha he was sooo cute and im sad i couldn't laugh with him for some of these but we laughed last night. we rode bikes to brunch, had a drink, & then came back home to relax for the rest of the day.  14 hrs of sleep never felt better. thank the lord for epson salt.

so all of this happened in just 4 days & that is all folks! :) crazy.fun.stuff with deeschaefylife.

Happy Cinco de drinko!

take your fiancé to work day

i'm doing exactly what the title says today .... my hunny brought me to work today
& i'm doing a whole lotta of this...

selfies! ha
and pondering life in my Cali hat

so yesterday was my law & ethics exam for dental hygiene and ..... i passed! Praise the Lord. hopefully i will be licensed mid may and start working ....gosh i miss my job...i don't miss waking up super early though. ;)

this past wknd was pretty eventful i think. we had our "precana" marriage prep class that is required by the catholic church. we both thought it was great however it was rather long and a little boring but nonetheless informational. one down, one more to go.

we decided to try a new non denominational church on sunday.... hmm and lets just say it did not feel like home. made me miss my home church so much - Neartown Church. it's hard to find a church home but i am determined to find the right one for us here in cali. being part of a church community is so important - you find a new family & friends - when you are so far away from your own. the church community is there for support, bible study groups, accountability, prayer, and its really an endless list. i hope & pray we will find our "home" soon.

God is sooooo good y'all! I am just overjoyed with all the blessings & answered prayers he has bestowed upon us these past couple of weeks.

we had dinner on saturday night with this lovely couple - the Ks - the first set of friends i met in california. i'm saddened that they will be leaving us in june - AK (left) got accepted to residency ortho program in new york & his wife- SK- (next to him) is a dentist - that's right people, we only hang out with dental peeps! ha jkjk.

we need toothpaste

i will get the hang of this "blogging" and make my blog pretty one day! :)

yesterday consisted of a whole lotta busy work ... research, research and a little more research on editing my blog, getting a domain etc. fun stuff...not really. to some this might come easy but for me, not so much. i want it to look perfect and i won't give up ha a little ocd much? maybe.

so i finally finished my last round of spray painting wine bottles for our wedding center pieces! yayay! (i hope) lets pray i don't break any. and a little more diy wedding projects were added on. lol it never eeeeends.

for hh we met up with a dr who refers patients to j, she was so nice. we need friends. plain and simple. chatted a little about life dentistry. a lot of it. we can't help but talk dental when we meet with other dental colleagues. just what we do. which reminded me that we needed toothpaste.

i don't think i have mentioned this and in case you don't know us already and you are reading this both j & i are in the dental field - he's an orthodontist and i'm a hygienist (i'm still not licensed to practice in cali but getting there) so in the mean time my full time job is: wedding planning, house fiancé, running along the coast, laying on the sand and most exciting of them all is loving on my lovebug and annoying him by counting his ribs. ;)

today, i will study. maybe. exam is next week. this am i had a nice relaxing 70 min massage, compliments of my Easter bunny ;) it was sooooo good and well deserved. on the way back home i stopped at a coffee shop down the street got a latte (my fave) and an almond croissant, couldn't resist it- took me back to Paris and their amazing chocolate almond croissants -which i ate every morning when we were there this past winter. oh so yummy. oh how i miss thee.

it's Friday, i ain't got no job, and i ain't got s*** to do...haha not really it's Friday and it means party i mean cleaning day! wah wah but it's gotta be done while the honey works hard for us i take care of the home. :)

au revoir

we like to match - blurrrr

Numero Uno

Well, well, well! Cheers to my first blog ever!

As I laid on our couch last night I told my fiancé, I wanted to start blogging. Not knowing what blogging really is or how to do it but I really did think how sweet it would be for our kids (God willing) to look back at the archives of their moms blogs - the life of a lovebug (j) & a jelly bean (dee) through jb's eyes! We nicked named ourselves these names back in 2010 when we first started dating - I came up with "lovebug" because those lovebugs were everywhere that spring in Houston and I still haven't got a clue why he came up with "jelly bean" since he hates them.  ha I also thought it would be neat to keep our family and friends back in Texas posted on our sweet beachy life in California! :)

when we made up those silly names for one another, circa 2010

SO we are about 107 days away from saying our "I do's!" Get excited for almost being close to the double digit countdown! woohoo!! I am so excited and cannot wait to marry the man of my dreams and love of my life.

I should be studying at the moment for my law & ethics dental hygiene exam that's coming up next week, but I am doing everything possible to avoid that. ha I also have some wedding diy projects going on all at once, that I should be working on ... maybe a cup of coffee will help get me going!

I will close with a bible verse that's been on my heart and mind the past week. -au revoir-

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17
